Torosyan Provides Details on Oncology Center Altercation

The Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, has provided new details regarding the incident that occurred at the V.A. Fanarjyan National Oncology Center, which falls under his jurisdiction. The minister published a statement on his Facebook page, revealing that the father of the individual who attacked the acting director of the center has been dismissed for illegally extorting money from patients.

"The illegal ‘extortion’ of money by medical personnel is unacceptable and will always receive such a strict response. Gagik Hambartsumyan, whose son attacked the temporary acting director of the ‘V.A. Fanarjyan National Oncology Center’ Narek Manukyan today, was dismissed a few days ago based on the request visible in the photograph. He had illegally taken 400,000 drams from the relatives of a patient and subsequently returned it after this request. He was dismissed in accordance with the director’s lawful decision for committing this violation, while his son today was ‘demanding an account’ from the director," Torosyan wrote.
