Gyumri Customs Terminal Launch Delayed by One Week

Gyumri Customs Terminal Launch Delayed by One Week

The opening of the Gyumri customs terminal has been postponed by one week. This decision was made today during the State Revenue Committee Chairman David Ananyan's visit to the construction site.

He told shantnews.am that despite significant progress in the work completed, the current pace of construction is unsatisfactory. According to the Chairman of the SRC, the reasons are both objective and subjective. Several changes have been made to the plan for relocating the customs terminal to Gyumri, resulting in an increase in the scope of the work required.

“Most likely, we will announce the opening on October 18. We are delaying it by one week because, objectively, we are not able to meet the initial deadline. October 11 was the scheduled date, and we are postponing it by one week. We made this decision today. We are physically unable to complete it on time. The reasons are both objective and subjective, and we will evaluate the objective reasons while quickly addressing the subjective ones today and tomorrow. The pace of construction has been somewhat less satisfactory than we expected. This means that the rate has slowed a bit more than anticipated. The objective reasons include weather conditions that affected us for a few days, as well as an increase in the volume of work. Initially, we were discussing 800 square meters for the building facilities, but now we are talking about 4,000 square meters, as we have made many functional changes throughout the process,” stated David Ananyan, Chairman of the SRC.
