Garegin II Elected President of the "Religions for Peace" Global Union

On September 25, the newly elected Secretary General of the "Religions for Peace" international union, Prof. Azza Karam, and the current Secretary General, Father Kyoichi Sugino, officially notified His Holiness Garegin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, that during the 10th World Assembly of "Religions for Peace" held in Lindau, Germany from August 20-23, the Armenian Patriarch was nominated and elected as the honorary president by 700 delegates representing 125 countries and various religious communities around the world.

The "Religions for Peace" global union consists of a world council of diverse religious leaders, six regional interfaith bodies, and more than 90 national entities, as well as a range of interfaith youth organizations. Its goal is to promote effective cooperation among different religious communities for peace, facilitating interaction at global, regional, and local levels to establish peace and universal well-being.
