Restrictions Imposed on Betting Offices and Gaming Halls

The National Assembly is discussing for the second time the bill proposed by Alen Simonyan and his colleagues, which imposes restrictions on the operations of betting offices. Babken Tunyan, the chairman of the NA Economic Commission, stated that these restrictions will gradually begin to take effect from November 2020.

The first measure pertains to the fact that each betting company may only have one betting office in each of the regions, in each administrative district of Yerevan, and in four tourist cities: Tsaghkadzor, Jermuk, Meghri, and Sevan.

Tunyan also mentioned that they intended to immediately stop the operations of gaming halls in gas stations; however, after discussions with lawyers, they decided to grant those entrepreneurs some time, and that limitation will come into force six months after the law is enacted.
