I Don't Want Monetary Compensation, Let Him Apologize. Grigoryan
The president of the "Armenian National Health Council," a coalition of civil society organizations, urologist Gevorg Grigoryan has filed a civil lawsuit against Health Minister Arsen Torosyan.
Grigoryan is demanding that the court obligate the defendant to publicly refute information considered defamatory and to issue a public apology for the insult.
In an interview with NEWS.am, Gevorg Grigoryan mentioned that the basis for filing the lawsuit stems from the minister's statements made during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.
Recall that on May 7, 2019, Arsen Torosyan addressed critics of the vaccination program during a live broadcast on Facebook, focusing on the more effective organization of initiatives.
During the live broadcast, Arsen Torosyan stated that the criticism of the vaccination program is being directed by one central body, and some circles, wishing to take action against him personally, resort to nothing other than criticizing a program that is saving hundreds of citizens' lives.
"In other words, they have fallen so low, so vile, that they cling to a life-saving program, rather than attacking me personally, because it seems their efforts to personally attack me were not very effective," the minister said, warning that any encroachment on public health programs will receive such a harsh response from him that those who commit such acts will regret entering that arena.
Gevorg Grigoryan is confident that the minister's words were also aimed at him, as he is among the critics. "It’s true he didn’t mention my name, but the critics are 3-4 people, one of whom is me, and it can be understood that I was also meant," he stated.
According to Grigoryan, if the minister publicly denies that he was referring to him, they will make no demands. "I do not want any monetary compensation from him; I want a public apology," Grigoryan concluded.
