Criminal Case Initiated Against Head of 'Vorotan' Station for Abuses
The Investigation Committee of Armenia has launched a criminal case regarding the apparent abuses committed by the head of the difficult-to-access 'Vorotan' station.
According to preliminary data, the head of the 'Vorotan' difficult-to-access station, which is part of the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ 'Hydrometeorological and Atmospheric Phenomena Active Influence Service', was informed that two employees registered as technicians at the station were not attending work. Using his official position against the interests of the service, he failed to notify the relevant supervising officials about their absence, resulting in the illegal disbursement of a total of 25,187,171 AMD from the state budget for salaries from 2008 until August 2019, causing significant damage to the state.
On September 21, 2019, a criminal case was initiated at the Vayk police department under the first part of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, with the investigation being carried out by the Vayots Dzor regional investigative department of the Investigation Committee of Armenia. Measures are being taken to ensure an objective, complete, and comprehensive examination of the circumstances of the case.
