These Wooden Bins Are for Small Waste: Gevorgyan

“There is a simple truth that some of our fellow citizens have yet to understand. These small wooden trash bins are intended only for small waste, cigarette butts, and not for the large bags of garbage shown in the picture,” wrote Taron Gevorgyan, Deputy Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Yerevan Municipality, on his Facebook page.

He shared a post from a social media account showing overflowing and unemptied trash bins in the center of Yerevan.

Gevorgyan explained that according to the plan, small bins should be emptied once or twice a day, but even if they are emptied several times a day, they will not be empty until people’s self-awareness increases. “The pictures show a section of Tumanyan Street, where there are about ten large bins with a capacity of 1100 liters within a 200-meter radius,” Gevorgyan added.
