"Sanitek" Fails to Pay Salaries to Employees, Reports Human Rights Defender's Office

Between 2018 and 2019, numerous complaints were addressed to the Human Rights Defender against the "Sanitek" company. This is reported by the Ombudsman's office.

Specifically, 18 verbal complaints, 48 written complaints, and an additional 13 complaints were made via the Human Rights Defender's hotline at 116.

The majority of the complaints raised issues regarding violations of employees' rights. The complaints highlighted the following problems:

  1. The complainants did not receive final settlement after being dismissed (25 written complaints, 6 verbal complaints, 3 hotline complaints).
  2. The complainants took annual leave but did not receive vacation pay (12 written complaints, 2 verbal complaints).
  3. Those who were in temporary incapacity did not receive temporary disability benefits (9 written complaints, 2 verbal complaints).
  4. Complainants expressed dissatisfaction with the waste collection and placement of waste bins by "Sanitek" (1 written complaint, 1 verbal complaint, 3 hotline complaints).
  5. Complainants worked for months without receiving their salaries (3 hotline complaints).
  6. An employee was dismissed but did not receive a dismissal order from the employer (1 hotline complaint).
  7. The employer did not transfer maternity benefits to the employee (1 verbal complaint).
  8. For absence from work, the employer withheld 10,000 AMD from the complainant's salary (1 hotline complaint).
  9. The complainant works in harmful conditions for their health, and the employer did not relocate them (1 hotline complaint).
  10. The complainant wanted to resign but received threats from the employer (1 hotline complaint).
  11. The employer is forcing the complainant to write a resignation letter and leave (1 written complaint).
  12. The complainant has been dismissed. According to the complaint, the dismissal was unjustified, and the issue of reinstatement at the previous workplace has been raised (1 verbal complaint).

A significant number of the complaints addressed to the Human Rights Defender against "Sanitek" have been resolved in cooperation with the Yerevan municipality.
