New Data Revealed in Amulsar Criminal Case Says Arsen Ayvazyan

New data related to the Amulsar criminal case has emerged. Arsen Ayvazyan, the head of the investigative group for the Amulsar case and deputy chairman of the Investigative Committee, said this during a meeting with reporters today.

“The Ministry of Environment has sent us a letter containing new data that needs to be verified. Therefore, the investigation of the criminal case is ongoing, and at this moment, there can be no talk of closing the case,” said Ayvazyan.

According to him, new individuals have been interrogated regarding the Amulsar case, and there will be more interrogations to come. Ayvazyan also noted that concerning the newly obtained data during the investigation, either additional or repeated expertise could be appointed.

It is worth recalling that on August 19, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a Facebook live session that the Amulsar mine could be operational since, according to the conclusion of the “ELARD” company, the potential risks could be negligible for the waters of Lake Sevan or Jermuk, provided that the 16 preventive measures discussed in the conclusion are adopted. This statement sparked a wave of protests. Later, on August 29, during a video conference with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, representatives from the same company indicated that the conducted expertise and environmental impact assessment are insufficient for the safe operation of the mine.
