First Kufta Festival to Take Place in Ejmiatsin
On October 8, Ejmiatsin will celebrate its 2704th anniversary. One of the key reasons to visit the city on that day is the inaugural Kufta (koloak) festival.
The first-ever Kufta festival presents a fantastic opportunity to explore one of Armenia's traditional dishes, kufta, and to discover the unique flavor and preparation secrets of Ejmiatsin's kufta.
The kufta/koloak stands out in Ejmiatsin's cuisine, both in aroma and taste, as everyone attests. Kufta has been prepared in the city since time immemorial. There is even a street known for the "kuftachis"—those who specialize in making kufta—where you can buy the best kufta.
All those interested in the dish and its various preparation methods are warmly invited to Ejmiatsin on October 8.
The festival will kick off at 14:30 in the vicinity of the Ejmiatsin Municipality. The event includes food tastings and an exhibition-sale. Delicious wine will also be promised. The festival will be accompanied by Armenian folk dance and music.
The initiative is organized by the Ejmiatsin Municipality and the public organization “Development and Preservation of Armenian Culinary Traditions.”
