Driver of Lexus Involved in Tragic Accident in Yerevan Arrested
On January 23, David Martirosyan, a senior investigator at the Yerevan city investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, announced the arrest of 18-year-old Robert Artemi Abrahamyan, a resident of Yerevan.
According to the photojournalist Shamshyan.com, Abrahamyan is suspected of driving a Lexus vehicle with license plate 07 TO 777 during a major and tragic accident that occurred in Yerevan on January 22. The vehicle was involved in this tragic accident, after which the driver fled the scene, and the license plates were removed from the car.
According to Shamshyan's information, R. Abrahamyan is a first-year law student at Yerevan State University, and the car belongs to his father, Artem Abrahamyan, who serves as the deputy head of the municipal economy department at the Yerevan City Hall.
R. Abrahamyan is currently in a hospital in the capital under the status of being arrested, as he sought medical assistance at 07:00 the morning after the accident. As reported by a photojournalist from the scene, a major and tragic traffic accident occurred in Yerevan on January 22. Around 00:30, the vehicles driven by 51-year-old Arthur Gasparyan, a resident of 174 Bashinjaghyan Street, driving an Opel with license plate 13 TO 297, and 39-year-old Edward Ghevondyan from 4 Shengavit Street, driving a Mercedes with license plate 35 FG 577, collided with a Lexus vehicle driven by an unidentified driver that had no license plates.
Following the collision, the Lexus veered off the roadway, struck a tree, jumped onto the sidewalk, and continued forward crashing into the display window of the round-the-clock pharmacy belonging to "DANA-FARM" LLC. As a result of the accident, the driver of the Mercedes, E. Ghevondyan, and a passenger in the Lexus, 21-year-old Telman Gyulbudaghyan, who lives on Lvovyan Street in Yerevan, sustained injuries and were transported to the "Erebuni" medical center. Those gathered at the scene reported that E. Ghevondyan was in a critical and unconscious state.
