Former Canadian Prime Minister to Pashinyan: 'You Have an Unusual Career'
During his working visit to the United States, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien at the UN headquarters in New York. Chrétien, who is representing Canada during the 74th session of the UN General Assembly this year, welcomed Pashinyan and expressed his pleasure in seeing the Armenian Prime Minister, noting that he has an interesting and unusual political career and is now leading Armenia on the path to democracy.
He emphasized that Armenia and Canada have effective bilateral relations, and Canada values the continuous development of these ties.
Pashinyan stated that he was pleased to meet with the Canadian delegation during the 74th session of the UN General Assembly and discuss issues related to the bilateral cooperation agenda. The Prime Minister referred to the radical reforms being implemented in Armenia aimed at strengthening and empowering democracy in the country. According to Pashinyan, support from international partners through joint programs and initiatives will also be beneficial in this process.
The meeting addressed cooperation opportunities in economic sectors, particularly in infrastructure, innovation, and the pension market. An agreement was reached to continue discussions on specific projects at the level of permanent representatives of Armenia and Canada at the UN.
