Hayk Harutyunyan Consumed Significant Amount of Alcohol Before Incident: Investigative Committee
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Hayk Harutyunyan. This information was provided by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
On September 23, 2019, at 23:50, the police received a report that Hayk Harutyunyan had died in his summer house located in the village of Bjni, Kotayk Province. An investigative-operational group immediately went to the scene and discovered Harutyunyan's body in the living room of his summer house in the Resort Neighborhood of Bjni, with a gunshot wound to the head.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee under the first part of Article 110 of the RA Criminal Code. During the pre-trial investigation, several investigative actions have been conducted, including an on-site inspection, which revealed blood-like traces, collection of samples, and the discovery of a PMK type pistol and cartridges next to the body. Witnesses have been interrogated.
The investigation has obtained information indicating that Harutyunyan had consumed a significant amount of alcohol prior to the incident.
To clarify significant circumstances of the criminal case, forensic medical, forensic ballistic, forensic genetic fingerprinting, and forensic toxicological examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to ensure an objective, complete, and comprehensive examination of the circumstances of the case and to verify the details mentioned in the testimonies.
