Weightlifter Hakob Mkrtchyan is World Champion

Hakob Mkrtchyan, a member of the Armenian national weightlifting team, has become the world champion. In the men's 89 kg snatch event at the World Championship ongoing in Thailand, Mkrtchyan lifted 167 kg, and in the clean and jerk, he lifted 208 kg. With a total of 375 kg, Mkrtchyan claimed the title of world champion.

Another representative of Armenia, Davit Hovhannisyan, managed to lift 160 kg in the snatch and 195 kg in the clean and jerk, finishing with a total of 355 kg, which placed him 12th.

Other Armenian athletes competing for medals include Samvel Gasparyan (102 kg, Group A, September 25, starting at 17:25 Yerevan time), Simon Martirosyan (109 kg, Group A, September 26, starting at 14:55 Yerevan time), Gor Minasian, Ruben Aleksanyan (+109 kg, September 27, starting at 12:55 Yerevan time), and Tatev Hakobyan (87 kg, Group A, September 25, starting at 14:55 Yerevan time).
