VIDEO: Armenian Trucks Stranded Again at the Upper Lars Checkpoint

Armenian trucks have once again become stranded at the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border.

According to Novosti Armenia news agency, citing truck drivers, "the Russian side is creating obstacles and demanding fines of up to 100,000 rubles."

Drivers report that there are currently about 1,000 trucks piled up at the border. Rafik Hayrapetyan, the director of one of the freight transportation companies, stated that the demand for fines is allegedly related to supposedly overloaded trucks. He said, "Our trucks carry between 10 to 23 tons." However, overload can only be discussed if the weight exceeds 24 tons and more.

"The Russian customs is demanding that fines be paid, allegedly because the cars are overloaded, and you can pay on-site or within eight days," Hayrapetyan noted.

Aurora News has contacted all relevant authorities regarding this issue. We were informed that they are aware of the problem and are currently trying to take measures.
