Corruption Crime Discovered Involving Officials (Video)

The Armenian police's information department has issued a statement regarding the uncovering of a corruption crime. Information concerning past illegal activities has been obtained at the main department of the police's Criminal Intelligence and Anti-Corruption unit. Based on this information, subsequent investigative actions have revealed the following.

According to currently available data from the investigation, between 2014 and 2018, the Yerevan municipality transferred 190,770,000 AMD to the 'Khut' charitable foundation operating in the Avan administrative district, with the aim of supporting social and charitable programs, carrying out social initiatives on festive and memorial days, and assisting in the organization of military conscription.

Evidence has been gathered that one of the officials from the leadership's office in the Avan administrative district, driven by group and personal interests, demanded large sums of money from the 'Khut' foundation in addition to charging state fees in exchange for granting construction permits.

Furthermore, during the preparation of materials, information was received indicating that employees of the 'Khut' charitable foundation formed disbursement orders under the pretext of providing one-time assistance to socially disadvantaged individuals and signed on behalf of citizens on funds receipt lists, thus embezzling various amounts of money.

A criminal case has been initiated by the police under the characteristics of abuse of official authority and has been sent to the investigative committee for further examination.
