President Hosts Descendants of Hovhannes Tumanyan

President Armen Sarkissian and Mrs. Nune Sarkissian hosted the descendants of the great poet Hovhannes Tumanyan, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, at the presidential residence today.

President Sarkissian welcomed the guests, noting that it is an honor to host the heirs of the great poet, who gathered in their homeland thanks to the initiative of Tumanyan's granddaughter, Irma Safrazbekyan.

“Usually, we remember and honor great figures during anniversaries, but Tumanyan and his works are with us constantly. For us, he is a legend, and over time, this legend is becoming more and more crystallized,” said the president.

During the meeting, ideas were exchanged about the preservation and promotion of Tumanyan's legacy, including proposals for establishing a Tumanyan Institute and preserving Tumanyan’s landscape and environment in Dsegh. The guests also gifted the president collections published on the occasion of the great poet’s 150th anniversary.
