Armenian Parliament Approves Bill on Excise Stamp Violations
The National Assembly of Armenia has approved on the first reading a bill proposed by the government regarding amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and a package of associated legislative initiatives.
The bill was presented during the parliamentary session on September 16 by Deputy Minister of Economy Naira Margaryan.
The proposal aims to decriminalize the sale of unmarked or improperly marked goods subject to excise stamps and to address violations related to the multiple use of excise stamps and labels. It suggests transferring these violations to the administrative code and the tax code.
“Previously, when the total amount of such goods exceeded 50,000 drams, they were regulated by the Criminal Code, which defined sanctions in the form of fines. The proposal also includes a clear scale indicating how much the fines will be depending on the total amount,” said Margaryan.
