Fire in the Forest Near Lehavaz Caused by Residents Aged 21 and 9 During Barbecue
Recently, the Meghri firefighting service received a report from the Meghri police that a fire had broken out in the forested area on the right side of the road leading from the village of Lehavaz to Vahravar. Firefighting efforts, which also included Meghri police, lasted for one day. In addition to the seven hectares of burned forest area, the fire also damaged the properties of two local residents. According to preliminary estimates, the damage caused to the owners amounts to 700,000 drams, and to the community, it is of a particularly large scale.
In connection with the incident, materials were prepared at the Meghri police department, and forensic fire-technical and forensic examinations were appointed. Meghri police detectives discovered that the fire was ignited due to the careless handling of a fire by two residents of Lehavaz village, aged 21 and 9, while lighting a barbecue. Following explanatory work with them, the young man and the minor came to the Meghri police department and provided confessional statements. The circumstances are being clarified.
