Deceased Pregnant Woman's Lungs Turned Purple: New Details

A 24-year-old pregnant woman, Luiza Avetisyan, who died at the Margaryan Maternity Hospital in Yerevan, has had her family blaming her doctors, particularly Armen Khachatryan, and the anesthetist, as reported by Hraparak.am.

Luiza's sister, Elen, told Hraparak, “We blame the doctors, especially Armen Khachatryan, who has been involved in previous unfortunate incidents, and second, we hold the anesthesiologist accountable, as everything was organized through this medical cartel. We accuse all those who are directly responsible for Luiza's death. They showed indifference; when anesthesia was administered, she clearly vomited, and in response, they claimed she was an unmanageable patient, putting her under anesthesia. They connected a pregnant woman with 220 blood pressure to an IV to lower the pressure or gave her other medications, doing nothing. They just administered anesthesia and choked her. It can be said that they performed the cesarean section on the child while she was already in a deceased state; we hold both of them responsible. They must be held accountable legally.

Elen noted that no local anesthesia was administered; she was immediately put to sleep, which turned into an eternal sleep for her. They have spoken to numerous doctors, who deemed it unacceptable to administer such anesthesia and perform a cesarean section with a blood pressure of 220. “We have consulted hundreds of doctors who perform cesarean sections, and they exclude such actions. I also want to mention that anonymously, lung analysis was sent to Nairi Medical Center; we are trying to clarify it with our resources. I want to add that in 2017, there were two other cases involving Armen Khachatryan, based on which criminal cases were initiated. However, he was released on bail shortly after, with the condition of not leaving the country, resulting in him remaining unpunished and continuing his 'medical' practice.”

The family has received the forensic examination report, which noted that purple lungs were discovered, indicating the cause was due to the anesthesia.

Elen also mentioned that the child is still in the hospital under medical supervision.
