Until today, no case has been examined regarding the issue of the murdered victims' killings. Hayk Alyumyan
In the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Anna Danibekyan, the trial concerning the charges of overthrowing the constitutional order against former President Robert Kocharyan, former Secretary General of the CSTO Yuri Khachaturov, former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, and former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan continues.
Yuri Khachaturov, the former CSTO Secretary General and a defendant, answered the court’s questions in Russian. He stated that he is proficient in Armenian, but may make mistakes in verbal speech, which is why he speaks in Russian. It is noteworthy that a translator has been invited to court for him. Khachaturov reported that he lives on Azatutyun Avenue and is fluent in both written and spoken Russian, and that he received the indictment three months ago.
Armen Gevorgyan noted that he is working and has familiarized himself with the indictment. It should be mentioned that the court hearing is taking place in a glass-walled room in the Shengavit hall of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, where it is difficult to hear the voices of the parties involved in the trial.
During the session, the court discussed the involvement of the legal successors and representatives of the victims in the case, and lawyers Tigran Yeghoryan and Ara Ghahargyoyzian were included as representatives.
Hayk Alyumyan, one of Kocharyan's defenders, raised the question of why the representatives of the victims of the March 1 case are being included in the criminal case being examined under Articles related to overthrowing the constitutional order, bribery, and money laundering from 2008. “I deeply sympathize with everyone, but I must emphasize one thing: until today, no case has been examined where the issue of the murders of the victims is discussed. This case is being examined, as everyone knows, under Article 300.1 (overthrowing the constitutional order), and in this case, there is no person who is more victimized by the overthrow of the constitutional order than the 3 million residents of the Republic of Armenia. Or, following that logic, we should bring 3 million residents here, or there should not be any victims here,” said Hayk Alyumyan.
