Some are Pulling Armenia into a Geopolitical Game at the Request of the Country's Current Leadership

It may sound immodest, but it is a fact that it is unlikely to find anyone in Armenia's political arena who engages more frequently, intensively, and substantively with European Union structures than I do, wrote Armenian Republican Party Vice Chairman Armen Ashotyan on his Facebook page.

“Our relationship with the West has always been a visible, tangible, and substantial component in enriching our foreign policy, balancing it, and shaping our internal political agenda and reforms. No geopolitical center can independently address and satisfy all of Armenia and Artsakh’s issues in today’s world—from security to economy and education.

The corridor of external political vectors for the country, based on regional peculiarities, is very narrow. However, recent phenomena are disturbing and concerning. I see signs that some, at the behest or with the consent of the country's current leadership, are trying to pull Armenia into a geopolitical game, turning us into a battlefield of the powerful.

Do not subject our country to experiments. Set aside your internal games and maneuvers; do not play disgraceful games with the fate of the people and the state. Afterwards, do not say that I did not warn you...,” Ashotyan wrote.
