Court of Appeals Rejects Kocharyan's Appeal Against Pashinyan
The Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia has rejected the appeal filed by Robert Kocharyan against Nikol Pashinyan, submitted by Kocharyan's representative, Haik Alumyann. This information has been confirmed by the judicial information system.
It is worth noting that Robert Kocharyan filed a civil suit against Nikol Pashinyan on September 17, 2018, demanding public apology and the obligation to protect his honor and dignity from slander expressed publicly. The grounds for the lawsuit were Pashinyan's public statements made during a working visit to the French Republic regarding a phone conversation between the Director of the National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan, and the Head of the Investigative Committee, Sasun Khachatryan.
On June 24, a judge of the Yerevan City Court, Lilith Sargsyan, decided to terminate the proceedings in the case of Kocharyan against Pashinyan on the grounds of the plaintiff's withdrawal from the lawsuit. The court simultaneously decided to recover 200,000 AMD in legal costs from the plaintiff in favor of the defendant. However, Kocharyan's representative, Haik Alumyann, disagreed with the court expenses and filed an appeal to the Court of Appeals on that basis.
