Actor from 'Unknown Subscriber' to Take Parliamentary Mandate
Today, the powers of Edgar Arakelyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'My Step' alliance, have been terminated, and the next candidate on the list is Arthur Manukyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction in the Yerevan City Council.
In an interview with ArmDaily.am, Arthur Manukyan stated that he will accept the mandate: "I am in constant contact with the faction; I do not want to avoid that burden and responsibility." When asked if he is concerned about having issues with the views and positions related to the political team, Manukyan responded, "I am from the 'Civil Contract' and I am one of the founders; we always have disagreements, and we resolve those disagreements through discussions. Our approach is such that we all express our opinions, talk, discuss, and come to some statement."
Manukyan noted that he intends to raise cultural issues in the National Assembly, particularly questions about cinema and theater: "I have been in that field for a long time and have felt the problems firsthand. Right now, I am performing in cinemas and theaters, and I am playing in the film 'Unknown Subscriber.' There are prior agreements in place, and I need to try to understand whether I am legally allowed to fulfill those agreements or if the law prohibits them."
