‘Zhoghovurd’. The Case of the Wiretapping of Sasun Khachatryan and Vanetsyan has been Uncovered

‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: “Today marks the one-year anniversary of the controversial wiretapping publication involving the head of the Special Investigative Service and the director of the NSS, Arthur Vanetsyan; however, the law enforcement system remains silent. Well, according to information obtained by ‘Zhoghovurd’ daily, the criminal case initiated regarding the wiretapping has been disclosed, yet law enforcement and authorities are keeping quiet.

Law enforcement agencies have substantiated that the wiretapping of power structures and the Prime Minister was carried out from one of the CIS countries, and it is known who specifically conducted it. In other words, the case has been fully uncovered.

However, according to the information we have received, law enforcement and authorities are remaining silent to avoid possible internal political clashes and the prospect of instability in the country.

Let us also recall one fact: after the wiretapping publication, officials held an urgent press conference. Among other issues, Sasun Khachatryan made several disclosures regarding the events of March 1, which further inflamed an already sensitive topic. The head of the SIS declared: “Tigran Abgaryan was killed by special forces. We have clear evidence for that. Tigran Abgaryan was killed at a time when Kocharyan had already imposed a state of emergency, yet there was no military personnel with gunshot wounds. Tigran Abgaryan was wounded by gunfire to substantiate Robert Kocharyan’s claims that we already have casualties.”

One year has passed since this statement, and if the head of the SIS’s assertions are backed by evidence, what has the preliminary investigation body done a year later? For instance, why has Robert Kocharyan not been charged? If he has been charged, why has it not been made public? To receive answers to these questions, ‘Zhoghovurd’ daily has addressed the press office of the Special Investigative Service and is waiting for their response.
