If There Are Clashes Regarding Amulsar, I Will Stand in Between, Not for or Against: Hovsepyan
MP Sophia Hovsepyan of the 'My Step' faction has not changed her stance regarding the operation of the Amulsar mine; she was against it before and remains against it now. In a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly, she noted that the 'ELARD' company's expertise also mentions risks.
“The evaluation from 'ELARD', which addressed the risks of operating the mine, stated that there wouldn't be a problem if the risks were manageable, and we know that in the case of risks, they cannot always be managed effectively. It is clear that it is simply not possible to completely eliminate risks,” Hovsepyan stated.
The MP does not deny that there has been disagreement within the 'My Step' faction regarding the operation of the mine. She recalled that there are individuals within the faction who were opposed to the Amulsar mine's operation even before becoming parliamentarians.
“There are people who were among those fighting on the Amulsar issue before the establishment of the National Assembly, even before the revolution, including myself, and the issues that were raised from the beginning should not be forgotten now that we are representatives of the government,” emphasized Hovsepyan.
In response to a question about whose side she would take if clashes occur, Hovsepyan said, “Not for or against, but in between both sides.”
