City Hall Paid 280 Million Less for Unperformed Work: Ani Khachatryan
The Yerevan city hall transferred approximately 4 billion 700 million drams to the "Sanitek" company for the month of August. This was stated today by Ani Khachatryan, the secretary of the "Luminous" faction in the city council, as she joined the participants of a protest rally.
She noted that the city hall sent 280 million drams less than the planned 5 billion 200 million. The reason for this shortfall is the non-fulfillment of corresponding work. The council member remarked that until now "Sanitek" had claimed it didn't have fuel money, and its vehicles were not operating; now it also appears that the unpaid amount has created issues regarding employee salaries.
“What is it even doing? What is the rest of the money for? 'Sanitek' has received an amount of 4 billion 700 million. You should go to court, I think, or try to organize a rally in front of 'Sanitek'. Neither the city hall, nor the mayor, nor any of us have the authority to demand 'Sanitek' to pay your money,” Khachatryan addressed the protestors, while still promising to clarify the scope of the authorities.
She labeled 'Sanitek's actions as sabotage: “This is another act of sabotage by 'Sanitek' against Yerevan, against the Republic of Armenia, against any citizen of the Republic of Armenia. This is another act of sabotage—possibly managed from certain places—using Yerevan's citizens, exploiting these people and their power, sending them to the Yerevan city hall,” she said.
Khachatryan added that the perpetrators of sabotage are likely the previous—and perhaps even the previous previous—governments.
Today, 'Sanitek' employees gathered near the Yerevan city hall demanding their unpaid salaries for August. They were informed by the company that the city hall did not transfer the corresponding amount, and thus they have no means to pay the salaries.
