Journalist Roman Babayan Elected as a Deputy of the Moscow City Duma

In the elections held on September 8, journalist Roman Babayan, the chief editor of the radio station "Moscow Speaks," has been elected as a deputy of the Moscow City Duma with 47.17% of the votes, according to the "RIA Novosti" agency.

Babayan achieved victory in the 5th electoral district with 2,500 votes, surpassing his main competitor, Anastasia Udaltsova.

After processing 100% of the ballots, it has been revealed that independent candidates occupy 26 seats in the Duma, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation secures 13 seats, and both the Yabloko and Just Russia parties have won 3 seats each.

Overall, there are 45 deputy seats in the Moscow City Duma. Voter turnout in the elections was reported at 21.77%.
