There is no doubt that the exploitation of Amulsar will have a negative impact on human health. Varazdat Karapetyan
During a conversation with reporters, Varazdat Karapetyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction, addressed the issue of Amulsar’s exploitation and the service investigation assigned to Yura Ivanian. According to him, conducting an investigation is the right decision.
“Since a service investigation is planned, let’s wait for the results of that investigation. I am generally in favor of resolving issues within the professional domain. If I express my opinion now—yes or no—it won’t change anything. The matter is being discussed in a professional context and the issue of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is also being considered at the Ministry of Environment. We will have the ministry's opinion on this tomorrow. We will also wait for the results regarding the specific service investigation,” he said.
Karapetyan noted that after reading the report presented by the ‘Elar’ company, he identified numerous issues that were also raised during a video conference attended by the Prime Minister, illustrating the necessity to look at the matter from all perspectives to understand it correctly. The government is currently involved in this process.
“My personal feeling is that the new EIA will not pass the examination, considering the river sources, etc. But this issue should also be left to the professionals’ discretion,” the deputy emphasized.
Referring to the negative impacts resulting from the exploitation of the mine, the deputy stated, “There is no doubt that the exploitation of the mine will have a very negative effect on human health. However, what kind of effect is still a professional question.”
