Narek Manukyan Appointed as Acting Director of the National Cancer Center
The director of the National Cancer Center named after Fanarjyan, Armen Tananyan, has been relieved of his duties. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia.
“We learned about this on Friday, but we were not informed about the reasons. We are currently having a meeting. They said they would also introduce the new director soon,” representatives from the National Cancer Center stated.
The spokesperson for the Minister of Health, Alina Nikoghosyan, clarified that the center has recently transitioned under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health from the State Property Management Committee.
“The ministry is making changes within its powers at the center, including staffing adjustments. By the minister’s decree, Tananyan has been dismissed, and oncologist Narek Manukyan has been appointed as the acting director of the center,” she said.
It should be noted that Armen Tananyan held the position of director of the National Cancer Center since 2014. Prior to that, from 2007, he was the deputy director of the hospital. He also served as the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Armenia.
Recall that the state health agency reported back in April that it had completed inspections at the National Cancer Center, where violations amounting to 43 million drams were discovered.
