Brother of 'Shushi Melo' to be released on bail

The court today approved the bail application submitted by the lawyer of Robert Manukyan, director of 'Sam-Har' LLC and brother of former MP Melik Manukyan, allowing for him to be released as an alternative to detention. This was reported by attorney Hovsep Sargsyan to 'Factinfo'.

“The court considered and granted the bail application today. Robert Manukyan will be released from custody upon posting a bail of 800,000 drams,” the lawyer stated.

It is notable that the lawyer earlier emphasized in our conversation that this is a medium severity crime, for which individuals are not detained. Furthermore, the legislator requires that the court provide justification for why detention is being applied as an exclusive measure. The lawyer insists that the justification must be substantiated, whereas the court has not provided any such justification.

It is recalled that on August 3, police took Robert Manukyan in for questioning on the suspicion of inciting obstruction to the administration of justice and investigation, without sending him a notice or having a warrant for his detention. R. Manukyan refused to go to the police station without legal grounds but was forcibly taken, where, according to his statements, he was subjected to violence.

The court deemed his arrest unlawful and released him from detention, noting that “no instruction was given by the investigator to present the suspect for the proceedings upon accepting the case, and there is no record of a detention warrant or notification in the case file.”

Businessman R. Manukyan had filed a complaint with the Investigative Committee regarding the violence he suffered. The circumstances of the violence were confirmed by a forensic medical examination. The experts diagnosed Robert Manukyan with contusions to the posterior chest wall, contusions to the soft tissues of the head, and upper extremities.

It is also worth mentioning that criminal prosecution has been initiated against Robert Manukyan following an attempted murder of Melik Manukyan.
