We Have an Unprecedented Budget Surplus, Which Is Simply Unacceptable for a Country Like Ours: Mane Tandilyan

The government continues its ineffective tax-budgetary policy, showing significant deviations from the program indicators set by the government. This was stated by LHK MP Mane Tandilyan on her Facebook page.

“As a result of the government’s restrictive tax-budgetary policy, we have an unprecedented budget surplus in the first half of 2019, which is simply unacceptable for a country like ours. If this trend continues, economic and financial issues will become inevitable.

The government does not even fulfill the expenditures planned in the budget, while the accumulated problems in the country have no boundaries. It is astonishing that we not only do not need additional money, but we also do not know how to spend the money we have.

As a result, those responsible for the government's economic revolution prefer to deposit budgetary funds in the central bank, bringing the total to 300 billion drams, which is twice as much as even last year's figures. If half of the accumulated funds were spent on capital investments, it would ensure an economic growth of 2-2.5% this year, which in turn would bring an additional $50-70 million in tax revenues.

Consequently, the economic impact would be greater than what the authorities fear losing due to the failure to implement the Amulsar investment. There are more free resources in the budget than there are funds allocated for resolving issues in the military, healthcare, education, social problems, and endless challenges.

Are those responsible for the economic bloc ready to compensate for the damages to the economy resulting from this?

It is evident that the government does not have the capacity to make quick and effective expenditures to swiftly resolve societal issues. Moreover, this has been noticeable throughout the year, and there is no dynamic change in sight.

In the coming days, I will propose a program for the rapid, targeted, and efficient spending of the funds collected in the budget,” she noted.
