Armenian Clubs Earn €2.9 Million in European Competitions
Yesterday, the last of the Armenian clubs, Ararat-Armenia, concluded its participation in the European competitions. The current champions of Armenia, after losing to Swedish club AIK in the first round of the Champions League preliminary round, continued their campaign in the Europa League. Under the guidance of coach Vardan Minasyan, they reached the playoffs of the Europa League for the first time in Armenia's history, but suffered a disappointing defeat, losing to Luxembourg’s Dudelange in a penalty shootout.
According to data from football-coefficient.eu, Ararat-Armenia earned €1,380,000 from their appearances in European competitions. Yerevan's Pyunic, reaching the third qualifying round of the Europa League, earned €780,000. It is noteworthy that Pyunic overcame North Macedonia’s Shkupi in the first round (3:3, 1:2), secured victory against Czech club Jablonec in the second round (2:1, 0:0), but fell to England’s Wolverhampton in the third round (0:4, 4:0).
Alashkert received €500,000 for participating in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. Under the leadership of coach Abraham Khashmanyan, they won against North Macedonia's Macedonia in the first round (3:1, 0:3) but lost to Romania’s Steaua in the second round (0:3, 2:3).
The least earning club among Armenian teams was Yerevan's Banants (now Urartu), with €240,000. The bronze medalists of the Armenian championship were eliminated after losing to Serbia’s Čukarički in the first round of the Europa League.
In total, Armenian clubs earned €2,900,000 in European competitions.
