Ministry of Environment to Decide on Amulsar Issue by September 4

The Ministry of Environment will make a decision regarding the need for a new environmental impact assessment for the Amulsar project by September 4. This was announced by the press secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Armen Vardanyan.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently stated that the government staff has sent the conclusion of 'Elard' to the Ministry of Environment to clarify whether the conclusion contains information that necessitates a new environmental impact assessment for the operation of the Amulsar mine under Armenian legislation.

The public continues to insist that the mine should not be operated. On August 24, a large-scale march in support of Amulsar took place in Yerevan organized by the initiative 'Amulsar Without a Mine.'

Armen Vardanyan mentioned in an interview with Radio Liberty: 'In accordance with the established legal procedure, the directive will be circulated among the ministry's specialized subdivisions, the results will be summarized, and the conclusion will be presented to the Prime Minister's office.'
