South Ossetia Temporarily Closes Border with Georgia
South Ossetia will temporarily close its border with Georgia during the celebrations marking the anniversary of Russia's recognition of the country's independence. This was announced on August 22 by the Republic's State Security Committee.
According to the statement, “In connection with the celebrations dedicated to the 11th anniversary of the recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia, a temporary suspension of citizen crossings at the simplified border crossing points with Georgia is planned from 20:00 on August 25, 2019 (21:00 Yerevan time).”
The usual functioning of the border checkpoints will resume on the morning of August 27 at 06:00, the State Security Committee noted, as reported by RIA Novosti.
