Volkswagen Touareg Crashes into Barrier in Kotayk Province, Injuries Reported

On August 18 at 01:27 AM, the 911 service received an alert about a traffic accident at the beginning of the village of Karashamb in Kotayk Province, where a citizen was trapped in a vehicle and required emergency services.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that special rescue teams from the Rescue Operations Center of the Emergency Situations Department and a firefighting unit from the regional rescue administration were dispatched to the scene.

It was found that a Volkswagen Touareg vehicle (driver: Karen J.) had veered off the roadway and crashed into a barrier. Rescuers extracted the driver and a passenger, Sofia B. (born in 1984), from the vehicle, and they were hospitalized at the Abovyan Medical Center. Another passenger, Armen B. (born in 1986), was transported to the medical center in Abovyan before rescuers arrived at the scene. Doctors assessed the condition of the injured as serious, and subsequently, the victims were transferred to various medical facilities in Yerevan.

Rescuers disabled the vehicle's electrical system and carried out road cleaning operations.
