Man Who Fired Shots in Yerevan Detained; Weapons Found
On August 17, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 03:50, officers from the second platoon of the third special battalion of the Yerevan police detained a citizen near 1 Charents Street on suspicion of hooliganism.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, it was revealed that the detainee, 27-year-old Armen H. from the village of Gagarin in Gegharkunik Province, was found to possess a "Makarov" type airgun with its magazine during a personal search.
Shamshyan's reports indicate that just minutes before being detained, Armen H. had fired the airgun into the air, demonstrating blatant disrespect towards society and grossly violating public order.
Materials are being prepared at the investigative division of the Yerevan police's central department regarding the incident.
Additionally, on the same day, officers from the Criminal Investigation and Community Police of the New Norq police department received operational information about an argument occurring near 11 Bakunts Street (near the "Mush" store), during which gunfire was heard.
In response, New Norq police and officers from the second platoon of the Yerevan police special battalion arrived at the site and found that at around 23:20, a resident of the mentioned building, 40-year-old Alen M., had fired his "Baikal" type shotgun several times into the air, grossly violating public order in an attempt to quell the noise.
During the inspection of the scene, police discovered the shotgun, which contained one fired cartridge in the magazine, while another cartridge was found on the premises.
Materials are also being prepared at the investigative division of the New Norq police department regarding this incident.
