Fire Destroys 15,000 Homes in Bangladesh's Capital

A severe fire that broke out in Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, has destroyed 15,000 homes, leaving around 50,000 people without shelter. This was reported by the BBC.

The fire ignited on Friday in one of the city's impoverished neighborhoods, Kalantika. Many homes had roofs made of plastic materials, which contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

There have been no reported casualties, but several individuals have sustained burns. Many residents were not at home as they were celebrating the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha elsewhere.

The fire has now been extinguished, and authorities have initiated an investigation. Bangladeshi officials have promised to assist the displaced residents.
