“People, how are you living here? It’s the height of a pandemic.” About 20 residents at 86 Ayghyuzakortsner Street deprived of sewage
About 20 residents living at 86 Ayghyuzakortsner Street in Yerevan have been deprived of sewage services. Former member of the Yerevan Council Sona Agekyan held a press conference today at this address. Resident Mariam Vardanyan reported that the sewage system had been blocked by Elena Soghomonyan, a former judge of the Court of Cassation, and her family, which includes Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court Judge Harutyun Manukyan.
Vardanyan, who has lived at the same address since birth, shared the situation with journalists today, noting that the sewage had always been operational. “Now, former Cassation Court Judge Elena Soghomonyan, who lives at 91 Rostom Street, has blocked the sewage system with mortar; they do not allow the residents to clear the blockage,” she said.
According to Vardanyan, sewage has filled the foundation of the last house on 86 Ayghyuzakortsner Street, where maggots have infested, forcing one resident to leave their apartment and live on rent. She added that she has personally tried to negotiate with the Soghomonyan family members, but they did not open the gate.
“Once, from a distance, they said, 'You are already late, there is nothing to talk about.' This indicates that they have deliberately blocked it. They are telling themselves that the sewage line has been temporarily granted,” Mariam Vardanyan stated.
Anna Arsenyan, a resident of house number 84, also stated that they are willing to construct a new sewage system at their own expense. “They simply say, 'Spend 700-1000 dollars to have a sewage system for one year; what will I do after a year?'” emphasized Anna Arsenyan.
Former Yerevan Council member Sona Agekyan and BHK MPs Naira Zohrapyan and Vahe Enfiajyan have come to address the residents' issues. For further details, see the video from 24News.
