Widespread Violations with Criminal Undertones in Higher Education System: Tigran Urikhanyan Sounds the Alarm

The National Assembly member from the Prosperous Armenia faction, Tigran Urikhanyan, has made a post on his Facebook page, where he declared there are "widespread violations with criminal undertones in the higher education system." In his post, the lawmaker expects a response from Minister Arayik Harutyunyan and the Prosecutor General.

Below is the full text of his post:

“In almost all universities, at the beginning of the academic year, they require payment of tuition fees either in full or at least half, threatening not to allow students to participate in the educational process. Meanwhile, I personally implemented changes to the tuition payment regulation by law, which has long been in force, and not merely for show, but to ease people's lives. This is obligatory for everyone, and if some impose illegal monetary demands on students with specific threats, it already leaves the impression of extortion.

I emphasize that the appeals have come from not just several dozen, but several hundred people, citing specific details. They explicitly state that this issue will be resolved whether you like it or not; I will compel the matter to be resolved for all students. Enough of the formalities.”
