«If machinery is operated at Amulsar, then someone will die». Resident of Jermuk

When Nikol Pashinyan visited Jermuk during the election campaign, I personally asked him what would happen if the results of the examination regarding the operation of Amulsar were positive. This was reported by Jermuk resident Aharon Arsenyan in an interview with Tert.am.

According to him, the Prime Minister responded, “I will take you under my wing, we will talk. Whether Amulsar will be exploited or not is ultimately decided by the community.”

The resident stated that regardless of the examination results, they are primarily fighting not for environmental protection, but for their violated rights. “Until 2016, the Jermuk community was not recognized as affected; only after 2016, when all the licenses were prepared, was Jermuk considered affected. However, there have been no public hearings, and the opinion of the Jermuk population has not been taken into account,” Aharon Arsenyan said.

Aharon Arsenyan said that they will continue to keep watch at Amulsar, and if machinery starts to operate, then someone will die. “The population of Jermuk is on duty at Amulsar every day. How do you imagine that any machinery could operate?” Aharon Arsenyan added.
