Egypt Strengthens Security Measures and Increases Flight Ticket Prices
The heads of Egypt's airports have found a way to optimize costs. They are set to raise security levels at the expense of tourists. This autumn, existing fees for vacationers will increase, along with the introduction of new charges, reports Vestnik ATOUR.
The Egyptian aviation authorities have made decisions that will have a boomerang effect on the cost of flight tickets. The Ministry of Civil Aviation of Egypt announced that in November, the flight tax will increase by $5. It is important to note that this fee is charged to all passengers departing from Egyptian airports on regular and charter flights. Currently, the tax amounts to $20.
Additionally, and this is another innovation, those traveling on domestic flights will also have to pay fees. This won't be much, just $5 per person.
And this is not the only financial burden. In the autumn, visitors will be charged at Egyptian airports for the development and implementation of security procedures and systems. Each passenger will incur a fee of $2. For those arriving in Sharm el-Sheikh, the fee will be double, at $4. It is still unclear how the collection process for aviation security will be implemented. Most likely, they will opt for the simplest option, incorporating it into the ticket price.
