Demonstrative Process for Judges: Defender Discusses Davit Grigoryan's Case

Currently, there seems to be an examination related to computers. This was stated by Davit Grigoryan's lawyer, Yervand Varosyan, in an interview with Tert.am, referencing the charges brought against Grigoryan. It is noteworthy that the powers of Davit Grigoryan, a judge of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court, have been temporarily suspended. Grigoryan has been charged under Article 314, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

Lawyer Yervand Varosyan pointed out that the situation remains the same as it was after the charges were brought, and no investigative actions involving Davit Grigoryan have been conducted yet. “In today’s Armenia, anything can happen; we expect anything,” he said.

The lawyer believes that the aim of all this is to punish Judge Davit Grigoryan for his decision to change the bail conditions for Robert Kocharyan. “It is an artificial process that is being attempted to be concealed under some official pretense. There is no forgery, and even if there were, in the form presented by the prosecution, it would not constitute a criminal offense at all,” he stated.

According to Yervand Varosyan, the current government is threatened not by Judge Davit Grigoryan but by all potentially independent judges capable of making their own decisions. “It is a demonstrative process, so that all judges understand what might happen to them in similar situations,” he concluded.
