This situation is extremely unpleasant: N. Pashinyan on waste management issues
We are all residents of Yerevan, living here, and this situation is extremely unpleasant: As a Yerevan resident, I regret the condition that Yerevan is in due to a company that is failing to fulfill its obligations. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Haik Marutyan during a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, discussing the waste management issues.
Nikol Pashinyan expressed that this could have been a completely different story related to the matter. 'We must be very decisive here so that no one thinks they can do something with cheap blackmail,' he said.
According to Haik Marutyan, the abundance of waste has slightly decreased today but will rise again in September when our fellow citizens return from their vacations. 'The waste will increase, but we are ready to cope with it,' the mayor stated, adding that new vehicles and waste bins will arrive in Armenia by early October.
Haik Marutyan noted that ideal waste collection is currently being implemented in Davtashen, as the waste bins have been replaced. He mentioned that there is an issue with judicial processes, and no one knows how this story will end.
Summarizing the meeting, the Prime Minister noted that he understands what kind of pressures the mayor is under. 'But I am also convinced that even before becoming mayor, you had a very good understanding of all this, and I am confident that you have the sufficient will to honorably overcome these challenges,' he added.
Haik Marutyan stated that if he could turn back time to October, he would do the same thing he has done now.
