Significant Achievements in Engineering Works at the Border, Says Tigran Balayan

In the past two weeks, the enemy's gunfire has been more frequent than usual, Defense Deputy Minister Gabriel Balayan stated during a press briefing with journalists in Metsamor today.

"These are the results of bilateral engineering works. The policy of the Ministry of Defense is to ensure that the enemy is not given any opportunity for positional advancement. I can also say that we have significant achievements as a result of our engineering works. In other words, we are successfully solving the tasks set before our engineering troops," Balayan announced.

He noted that the enemy has recently tried to suppress the accomplishments of the Armenian side through its increased activity. The deputy minister reported that he visited the military corps near the villages of Khachik and Areni in Vayots Dzor yesterday, and the situation was "quite calm."

"There were some shots fired toward the combat positions in Zangakatun, but overall, I can say that the situation is entirely manageable by the Armenian Armed Forces. At this stage, it is relatively calm," the deputy minister mentioned.

Gabriel Balayan is also pleased with the results of the summer conscription. "We haven't recorded this number of conscripts in a long time. The conscription has increased by 15 percent compared to last year," said the deputy minister.

Additionally, according to Deputy Minister Balayan, complaints related to the conscription have significantly decreased. "Complaints related to the conscription have decreased by approximately 60-65 percent compared to previous conscription periods. This is a very good and unprecedented result," the deputy minister added.
