Tragic Car Accident: 70-Year-Old Driver's Vehicle Rolled Into a Ravine

Today, on August 10, a tragic car accident occurred in the Aragatsotn region. Around 18:30, 70-year-old Mkrtich Ghukasyan, a resident of the Erebuni administrative district of Yerevan, was driving his Opel vehicle with license plate 35 DT 789. While traveling on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway at the 68 km mark towards Gyumri, he lost control of the vehicle, crashed into concrete barriers, and ended up in a ravine.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver, M. Ghukasyan, succumbed to bodily injuries while being transported to the Talin medical center.

Officers from the 2nd platoon of the 2nd company of the Traffic Police, led by platoon commander Vache Malakyan and team commander Hrant Galstyan, arrived at the scene. A group from the Talin police department also quickly arrived, headed by temporary acting chief Zakhar Zakaryan.

Investigative work at the scene is being led by senior investigator Edik Harutyunyan from the Aragatsotn regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, who is preparing materials on the incident. As per the investigator's instructions, the vehicle is being transported to a designated secure area of the Talin police department.
