Rescue Teams Walk 2 km to Reach Fire Site in Ijevan: Emergency Services

On August 9, at 19:19, the "911" service received a report of smoke observed near the end of Metallurgists Street in Ijevan, Tavush province, close to a forest.

A fire and rescue unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations dispatched one combat team to the scene. Due to impassable roads, the rescuers proceeded on foot for approximately 2 km.

It was determined that the fire had erupted in the area known as "Shnjan." The fire was contained by 21:33, with about 1 hectare of shrubbery and grassland burned. Operations to extinguish the fire were halted due to darkness and difficult terrain.

Staff from the “Hayantar” SNCO's Ijevan Forestry branch were placed on duty to monitor the situation. Six employees from the same branch participated in the firefighting efforts.

At 06:25, information was received that the fire had extinguished itself.
