Newborn Dies in Yerevan
A case of a newborn's death has been registered at the "Holy Mother of God" Medical Center on August 2. According to relatives, the baby was not transferred to the hospital in time.
The child was transferred to the "Holy Mother of God" Medical Center in extremely critical condition from the "Beglaryan Center." This was reported by NEWS.am.
In an interview with the news outlet, Gevorg Derdezyan, the public relations assistant of the "Holy Mother of God" medical center, stated that the newborn died of oxygen deprivation. "According to doctors, the newborn was under assisted ventilation, but a few hours later, when they noticed that the breathing was insufficient, they transferred the baby to the 'Holy Mother of God' hospital, where an artificial respiration device was connected. However, it could no longer absorb oxygen, and the child died after an hour and a half from oxygen deprivation," he said.
Gevorg Ghazaryan, the child's uncle, who contacted NEWS.am, reported that the child was born at 7.5 months. "It turned out that he had respiratory complications, an artificial respiration device was connected to him, but the baby's condition sharply worsened on August 2, and there was a need to transfer him to another hospital," said the uncle, noting that the newborn was transferred to the 'Holy Mother of God' Medical Center two hours late.
"They said that the respiratory device had broken down and needed to be quickly transferred to the 'Holy Mother of God' Medical Center. We were constantly waiting for the Murazany reanimobile to arrive, but it was not there. Then it turned out that one had gone to Goris and the other was not available due to a lack of driver, while the child's condition was extremely serious, but they transferred him only after two hours," he said.
