Brother of Shushi Melo Arrested

Robert Manukyan, the brother of former MP and businessman Melik Manukyan, known as Shushi Melo, has been arrested. This was announced by the head of the Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee, Naira Harutyunyan.

"Robert Melikyan has been arrested on suspicion of committing an act defined in Articles 38-332 of the Criminal Code," she stated. The aforementioned article pertains to obstructing the administration of justice and aiding in obstruction of the investigation.

Earlier reports indicated that on August 2, there was an explosion on the Yerevan-Sevan highway, resulting in damage to the bridge's roadway and two vehicles—a Range Rover with the license plate 555 LL 05 and a Nissan with the license plate 35 MD 686. The Range Rover belongs to former National Assembly member Melik Manukyan.

One citizen, disregarding law enforcement’s demands, removed the Range Rover from the scene. Police later reported that a criminal case was initiated under Article 316 of the Criminal Code, which addresses the use of violence against a representative of authority.
