Closed Meeting of My Step Group with Rustam Badasyan on Istanbul Convention Was Heated

According to information from the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the closed meeting of the National Assembly's My Step faction dedicated to the Istanbul Convention with the Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan was quite heated. It is no secret that serious cracks have emerged in the power structure regarding the ratification process of the convention. One faction of the deputies does not even hide that they are against the bill and have decided either not to participate in the vote or to vote against it outright.

According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", during the meeting with the minister yesterday, that faction of the deputies openly expressed their disagreement. And however much the minister tried to explain and present, the “youthful” wing of the deputies remained unyielding, even urging the minister to remove it from the agenda.

My Step faction deputy Matevos Asatryan was also among them and yesterday, in a conversation with "Zhoghovurd", he labeled the proposal as a fake agenda, emphasizing that if the convention comes to the parliament, he would most likely vote against it.
